The timing for a basic squash sequence is demonstrated.
"Squash" is a basic animation term. Even though we use this word in everyday language, to an animator it has a very specific meaning. Squash refers to the part of any animation that squashes or flattens horizontally due to gravity or momentum.
Why Is This Important?
An animator must have the idea of "squash" as vocabulary word and a skill in animation. People squash as they walk when their feet hit the ground. Balls squash when they bounce. Frogs squash on the ground between bounces. Mosquitos squash on windows. Squash is everywhere.
